My Team and Theme Teams

MUTher docsMUTher documentation. MUTher documentation — written and kept up to date by us, not compiled from sources like the Madden pages.

My Team is your depth chart as EA has it, drawn with the real card art.

The four units

Offense, Defense, Special Teams and Specialist — 35 slots in all, and MUTher draws every one of them whether EA filled it or not. A slot with nobody at depth 0 is a gap, and the tab carries a count so a hole on another unit is visible from where you are.

Each column is the starter's card, then two reserve rows, then the position label — the way the game draws it. A reserve row with nobody in it is a dashed OPEN row, which is itself information. Every reserve is clickable.

Arrow keys move around the chart: up and down within a column, left and right to the same row of the next column, Home and End to the ends of the unit. Inside a card's panel, left and right step through that position's whole depth list and Escape closes it.

The rail on the right is the score and nothing else: team OVR, then the Off · Def split, then the lineup's name.

The three overalls

They are different numbers and MUTher never mixes them.

ReadingWhat it is
CardThe OVR on the card face.
At {slot}The rating in *that* slot, after EA's out-of-position adjustment. It is not always lower — a card can play up as well as down.
CeilingThe card's upgrade cap. Only ever shown as "upgradable to N".

The OVR plate on a card in the lineup is the slot rating, because that is the number that decides the game.

A card's detail

Click any card, starter or reserve, and the panel shows:

  • The card, the name, the position, the club and the program.
  • Archetype, in EA's own words — "Power - OT", "Field General - QB".
  • Height, weight, age, years pro and jersey number. A first-year card reads Rookie.
  • The three overalls, with the difference against the card face spelled out.
  • Plays at — every position EA reports an OVR for on this card, each with its number. That list *is* the card's eligibility: EA leaves out the slots a card cannot fill.
  • Ratings · 55 — all of them, as chips, grouped the way a card back reads, with the groups that matter for this position first. Nothing is hidden; the later groups are one click away.
  • Ability slots — a count, not names. EA sends no catalog of ability names, so MUTher shows the slots and says the names arrive with a later sync rather than printing an id.
  • Chemistry — see below.
  • Market — the prices EA itself reported for this item at sync time, quicksell included.
  • Provenance — where the card sits in your lineup, how you acquired it and when, its upgrade cap and its item number.
  • Protect this card, which stops the coach ever advising you to auction it.

Chemistry and Theme Teams

Under the chart is the Chemistry panel, split into Theme Teams (clubs) and Programs (seasons and events).

A club chemistry has five tiers, at 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 players from that club in your lineup. A program counts the same way at its own thresholds, and some programs have one tier, not five — so the bar draws the tiers that chemistry actually has rather than always drawing five.

Each row says exactly where you stand:

  • "3 more Falcons for tier 1."
  • "Tier 2 turns on at your next sync." — you are already over the line; EA has not recounted yet.
  • "All 5 tiers are on, with 27 in your lineup."

One player can carry a club chemistry and a program chemistry at once, so several clubs at a time is the normal state, not a mistake. Every club row links to that club's cards in your binder, which is the fastest answer to "who are my Seahawks?".

Where EA ships dated wording on a chemistry — "ON 9/21/26 THIS CHEM WILL REDUCE TO ONLY +1 AWR…" — MUTher prints it on the row, verbatim. That wording arrives inside game data and is announced nowhere else.

Open a card from the lineup and its own Chemistry section carries the same tier bars and the same sentence, so you can see what a swap would cost you before you make it.

Switching a card's chemistry

In MUT, on the card. MUTher reads; it does not write, so there is no switch here to press.

Changing a card's team chemistry in the game rewrites that card's chemistry and its tiers, and your lineup's counts move with it. MUTher sees the result on the next sync — the old club's count drops, the new one appears at whatever it now holds, and the tier bars redraw.

A club badge on a card is not the same thing as that chemistry being the one it is running. The panel counts what your lineup is actually carrying.

This is MUTher's own documentation. For how Madden 27 Ultimate Team itself works — Evolutions, chemistry, sets, the Auction House — see the Madden 27 pages, which are compiled from public sources and carry them.
